Subject : “The European Transparency Initiative - Where does it stand? Where does it go?”

Speaker :  Mr Dirk Lontings, Avocat

“Mr. Lontings will first present a short overall update on the status of the transparency initiative. Following this update he will focus on a number of issues that have arisen concerning the interpretation of the transparency rules. He will devote particular attention to why so few think thanks and law firms have registered. As regards law firms he will examine to what extent the transparency rules are compatible with the “professional secrecy” rules by which lawyers are bound and under the cover of which clients such as trade associations feel comfortable disclosing confidential information to lawyers”.
